WELCOME to the DDCA

Throughout Oregon, many high school dance teams have been well-established and thriving activities in their schools and communities for many years.  Long-time dance team traditions within these schools have become a source of pride for many generations of dancers and dance team families. 

 

There are also many programs that have been discontinued due to lack of  leaders stepping into the role of coach.  Many programs are waiting for leaders to take the reigns of existing programs. There is also room and opportunity for leaders to start brand new programs in their local high schools.

Are you a school teacher, former or current dancer, or dance team alumni interested in coaching a team? 

 

Reach out to your local high school directly or contact the DDCA for advice on how to get started!

Were you on a dance team in high school, college, or professionally?  Have you coached a dance team in the past and still want to be involved?  Are you a dancer with some knowledge of competitive dance?  A choreographer or dance enthusiast who has knowledge of the craft and execution of dance movement? 

 

Maybe becoming one of our talented judges is a way to become involved!  The schedule is less demanding than becoming a coach, but you still get to enjoy the exciting world of high school dance team! 

 

The DDCA/OSAA competitive season runs roughly between early November through late March.  The DDCA Judges Affiliation offers support, training, and mentorship as you embark on a dance team judging journey.

Throughout the entire year, DDCA takes the lead in many ways for our high school dance teams. 

​

• We partner with high school teams to host dance competitions!

• We partner with OSAA for the Dance/Drill State Championships!

• We offer educational opportunities for dancers, coaches, and judges to further explore their dance training, coaching tools, judging knowledge, and more!   

• We host the All-State Dance Team Audition and award dance scholarships!

 

The Dance Teams and/or DDCA must fund many these activities in order to acquire spaces for events and classes, feed/pay judges or educators, hire consultants, etc.  The cost to dancers and coaches could be reduced through the donations of resources, such as space for classes and training, catering for competitions and events, volunteers to help with event procedures, unique talents like photography or videography, apparel design, etc.

The easiest way to help the DDCA with these special events are through becoming a business sponsor; however, if you are curious about how you can help the DDCA in other ways, or have something unique to offer, please reach out! 

 

The DDCA also accepts tax deductible donations if you are interested in helping in a simple and direct way.
